They are now seeking a Plumbing Lecturer to join their Engineering Academy.
The Engineering Academy has specialist resources that gives students the technical knowledge and work-based skills in addition to academic qualifications, providing a head start for a career in Engineering or further study. Their state of the art brand new workshop facilities opened in December 2014 and aims to inspire and nurture young people to be skilled and enterprising professionals with the academic, personal and practical skills to enter careers in this sector. It provides a work-related environment focusing on skills relating to business awareness, teamwork, project management and employability, which will be at the heart of the curriculum. Every student is encouraged to focus positively and practically on his or her future.
Their new facilities include:
• Electrical workshop with real installation bays
• Welding workshop with MIG, TIG, MMA and sheet metal work capabilities
• Motor vehicle workshop with six ramp systems, MOT capabilities and diagnostic equipment for both light vehicles and heavy vehicles
• Plumbing workshop with purpose build gas assessment center and solar thermal equipment
• Mechanical engineering workshop with CNC milling and turning facilities, 3D printing, conventional lathes and milling machines
• Design center with Industry standard AutoCAD, Inventor and Master CAM software
• Air Conditioning and Refrigeration workshop
Engineering is a high-growth sector that is critical to the success of the region. The Engineering Academy, with its specialist approach, is intended to support both young people and local employers in developing this vital growth area in the region.
The Academy’s main skill areas are Renewables, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Welding & Fabrication, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Plumbing and Motor Vehicle. Awards, Certificates and Diploma courses are offered together with a range of National Vocational Qualifications from level 1 to 3, they also deliver level 4 in Manufacturing Engineering and Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
The Academy has developed strong links with local industry and offers Apprenticeships in Engineering Manufacture, Maintenance Engineering, Motor Vehicle, Welding and Fabrication, Plumbing, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration as well as a growing programme of full cost courses, to meet the needs of individual employers.
The Role
To deliver plumbing programmes to level 1, 2 and 3 to fulltime learners and apprentices.

Specific Role Responsibilities • Teach as required by your line manager.
• Develop resources for courses/subjects including maintaining effective links across College for resources
• Supervise student learning activities in a learning centre, library, lecture room, IT centre, workshop, field work, visits, placements or any other learning situation
• Be up to date in teaching and your subject area
• Attend regular meetings
• Engage in curriculum development activities, individually and as a team member, to develop and improve the curriculum
• Contribute to the pastoral care and discipline of the learners
• Guide and support learners in achieving their targets
• Contribute to learner recruitment and selection
• Attend parents evenings
• Contribute to student reports
• Maintain comprehensive, up to date course/subject records
