For them, staff are the most important resource that the College has in securing this success and therefore value their staff highly by offering competitive rewards and benefits packages. They are now seeking a Bricklaying Vocational Area Supervisor to join their team.
The Role
Each campus boasts recent investment in facilities, giving students access to industry standard workshops, software and equipment. This role for a Bricklaying Supervisor will be based at their Wycombe Campus, which is home to their Construction Skills Centre, with over £7 million invested in recent years.
As a Bricklaying Area Supervisor, your day to day duties will include:
1. Teaching
1.1 Provide high quality supervision in the subject areas required, given the resources available and within the agreed and approved current timetable.
1.2 Satisfy the administrative requirements of the College and examining/validating bodies.
1.3 Ensure that all marking, assessments and moderations are completed timely and tracked appropriately.
1.4 Liaise with other staff as appropriate to ensure that work is fully and effectively covered.
1.5 Actively encourage and promote the process of student learning.
1.6 Supervise all commercial activities within the designated area
1.7 Supervise weekend working
2. Administration
2.1 Keep accurate and up to date registers of classes supervised of student attendances, lateness and marks.
2.2 Ensure all administrative tasks, as directed, are completed fully and in a timely manner.
3. Curriculum Development
3.1 Undertake such training as may be required and requested for such development.
3.2 Be a member of relevant course teams and participate fully in their activities.
3.3 Participate in course and curriculum monitoring, reviews and evaluations.
3.4 Contribute to the Green Agenda
3.5 Assist in the development of workshop facilities to meet the requirements of existing and proposed courses.
3.6 Contribute to building industry links through academic and commercial activities
4. Pastoral
4.1 Provide active support to individual students.
4.2 Encourage students to take an active part in the corporate life of the College.
4.3 Help to ensure that College regulations and policies are upheld.
4.4 Initiate action if misdemeanours or infringements of College policy occur.
5. General
5.1 Attend staff meetings when reasonably requested.
5.2 Actively promote and market the College and present a positive image of the College and its activities both within and outside the College environment.
5.3 Ensure the quality standards and performance measures applying to the work of the section are met and facilitate continuous improvements in all aspects of the post.
5.4 Undergo any self-development and training as necessary for success in the role.
5.5 Carry out any duties at all times in accordance with the College’s policies including Equality and Diversity and Health and Safety Policies.
5.6 Incorporate into the role the philosophy, values and behaviour stated in the College mission and Strategic plan.
5.7 Be aware of and maintain within the College the College’s approach to security and discipline.
5.8 Undertake any other responsibilities commensurate with the grade of the post, which the Principal or their senior management representative may from time to time require.
5.9 The post will be based at one of the College campuses, but the duties of the job will require the post holder to work at any College campus or other location connected with the work of the College. Travel between the College main campuses will form a requisite part of this post.
6. Technician Duties within Role
6.1 To control stock and issue tools and materials to students in the workshops and construction site area
6.2 To prepare materials for students use in workshops
6.3 To advise course tutors of the need of replacement stock and materials
6.4 To raise material/equipment requisitions, receive, check and store goods in accordance with College procedures.
The Candidate
• At least two years working experience
• Level 3 Qualification
• Previous teaching experience (desirable not essential)
• Appropriate teaching qualification (desirable not essential)
• Assessing qualification (desirable not essential)
